The Tuscaloosa office is incredible and the staff is always kind and courteous. Although there can sometimes be a bit of a wait it is never overly long. The young lady at the front desk helped me through a panic attack by taking me out of the waiting room, giving me water and making sure I knew it was going to be ok. Krystal takes the time to hear me and take action in handling my medication management. She never seems to be in a hurry and hears me out completely. Out of my decades of treatment for mental health issues, this place is in the top 2 facilities for treating me well and being thorough for me.

Worse place ever. Took almost 200$ from me only to tell me the next day we won’t be able to treat you. Then told me Dr Hawkins could treat me and to expect a call- didn’t happen. Oh and the ‘evaluation’ Krystal did was a joke and lasted 10 minutes. Was seen less than 20 minutes by her. Awful.

My therapist has helped me through so much and so swiftly. When you walk through the door, expect the most beautiful group of people on the planet. I have never been disappointed with my experience with any of Hawkins as a whole. Serious doubts I will.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share my experience as a new patient. There was genuine confusion around the format of my very first appointment. I was originally under the impression it was an in-office visit, then received a call the day before letting me know it would be virtual. That part was fine — I've done virtual appointments before. What I didn't realize was that "virtual" in this case meant the doctor joins remotely, but the patient is still expected to come into the office. That's an understandable point of confusion, especially for a new patient who has never experienced that setup before. When I missed the appointment, I called to explain the situation and asked for a one-time exception to the $120 no-show fee. Given that I was a brand-new patient who genuinely misunderstood how the process worked, I felt that was a reasonable request. Unfortunately, I was told no exceptions could be made — and when I mentioned I'd have to take my business elsewhere, I was informed I'd still be responsible for the fee. I understand that missed appointments affect the business, and I take responsibility for my part in the miscommunication. But I do think exceptions should be considered in situations like this — especially for new patients still learning the process. Charging a full no-show fee for a first appointment rooted in unclear communication doesn't feel like the right call. I hope Hawkins Group will consider revisiting their policy to allow flexibility in genuine cases of confusion. For now, I'll be seeking care elsewhere.
