After titrating off a medication way too fast, I ended up in a mentally dark place. I went to the ER and was transferred to Langley Porter under a 5150 hold, where I spent six days. I didn’t really know what to expect and I was very anxious about giving up my autonomy to an unknown institution. But in my time there, I found that my doctor was very sensitive to work with me and minimize any involuntary treatment, and she and the nursing staff were also very respectful and genuine. I feel grateful to have landed there. Also, even though I’d prefer not to ever need to go back, I feel safer knowing that it’s an option. I think they did a really good job helping me get back on my feet. ———- Unfortunately, I need to update the rating here. I wasn’t properly screened by LP and was given the wrong medication for someone of my diagnosis, and as a result, I ended back in the hospital a month later after I did some significant damage to my finances. It’s probably going to take me almost a year to recover from it. I really did like the stay, but I just have to be honest about this.

They wouldn't let me go home and then sedated me, but only then let me go home after. They really don't know what to do with kids when they're tired of them and don't know what to do. Food sucks too. Especially the banana nut/oatmeal muffins.

I was at Langley Porter for about 6 weeks this spring. No hospital is perfect, but Langley Porter was very good. I was pleased with the care I received there, and would recommend it

The new Langley Porter has spacious rooms and the nurses are kind, helpful and seem to care. I was even introduced to some fun new-to-me music YouTube channels and was referred to good outpatient care. Their hospital-provided conditioner is also surprisingly effective. Dr Govind is helpful, caring and direct. My only complaint is that the laundry machines need to be replaced, and the unit is mildly understaffed for the bed count.

Staff are kind and helpful. Meal staff work hard and are extremely kind and respectful. Food is definitely a 10. The place lacks nothing. The only minus would be the toilets not so clean, and would always have flies in the toilet bowl. But no real complaints !! Thanks for making my stay of close to 2 weeks so easy comfortable and pleasant !! ~Angela B
